Breaking: KOJO BONSU WITHDRAWS FROM NDC FLAGBEARERSHIP
On deadline day for the picking of forms for the flagbearership race of the opposition National Democratic Congress, one aspirant Kojo Bonsu has opted out. In a statement, Mr Bonsu said the decision to opt out of the race is as a result of “considerable deliberation and reflection.” He had been one of eight candidates who petitioned the Council of Elders of the party about the high cost of nomination and filing fees. Their petition was considered and the nomination and filing fees of ¢420,000 was slashed by a ¢100,000. But that appears not to have empowered Mr Bonsu to go ahead to pick a form despite declaring his intentions to contest. In his statement announcing his decision not to contest Mr Bonsu said: “I would like to thank the Council of Elders for their prompt response to our petition regarding the flagbearership election.” It is with deep regret that after considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided to end my campaign for the flagbearership of the NDC today....
