PRIVATE SCHOOLS ARE NOT IN COMPETITION WITH THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS- PRE-TERTIARY DIRECTOR ADMITS.

It hasn’t been too long since the minister of education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, in a meeting with the Ghana National Council of Private schools stated that the private sector of education is explicitly in competition with the public sector. The perception is very different on the side of the director of pre-tertiary education- Madam Catherine Agyapomaa Appiah-Pinkrah. This was revealed when she called for a meeting with the Ghana National Council of Private schools ( Gnacops ) in her office yesterday. According to her, there is no dichotomy between private schools and public schools when it comes to rendering educational services to the country. Members of Parliament (MPs), in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) sought for more explanation as to what led to the removal of former chairperson Electoral Commission of Ghana Charlotte Osei and her two Deputies. When the Bawku Central legislator, Mahama Ayariga who is a member of the community legislature, presented Ghana’s country report and touched on removal of the former EC chair. “In the year under review, the electoral landscape witnessed a major shake-up in both structure and form of the National Electoral Commission. Upon a petition filed to the President of the Republic and subsequent activation and subject of the petition to a constitutional process, the chairperson of the EC, Ms Charlotte Osei was removed from office and a successor, Mrs. Jean Mensah, appointed. 25 TV3 staff laid off

TV3 Network owned by Media General Group has fired 25 staff in the latest retrenchment exercise embarked on by the company MyNewsGh.com can confirm. Affected staff according to MyNewsGh.com sources, started receiving their dismissal letters on Friday, October 26, 2018, with notable persons like Station Head of 3FM, Ackah Kwarteng affected. So far some staff of Onua FM, 3Fm and Marketing Department have been given letters and will also receive a two-months salary in lieu of notice contrary to the labour laws which indicates requires a three-months salary in lieu of notice. Our sources reveal that a town hall meeting scheduled for today October 29, 2018 at 4 pm will provide more details about the full complement of the dismissed staff. 3 arrested for illegal operations in a forest. The Anyinam District of the Forestry Commission has arrested three (3) for illegally entering the Atiwa Forest Reserved and cutting down trees. Briefing the media yesterday, the Anyinam district commissioner, Mr. Palma said, his men laid ambush at around 12am in the forest upon a tip off and got these guys arrested at exactly 5:30am. According to www.starmediaghana.com Eastern Regional Correspondent, Obrempong Nana Kwaku Ampomah, the names of the suspects are Richard Dompeh 25years, Kofi Asomanin 38years and Logo Kwabena 29years who all comes from Akwatia. They were arrested in the forest at Akyem Bomaa. They are currently detained at Kwabeng Police Station waiting to face the law today.
