I AM A BROKE MAN; I’VE NOT BEEN PAID FOR MANY MONTHS – ASAMOAH GYAN ‘CRIES’ IN COURT

The skipper of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has shocked the Accra Family Court hearing the case of marriage annulment between him and Gifty Gyan that he is walking around a “broke man” and has not been paid for some months now. The court had ordered Asamoah Gyan to ensure he paid for the air ticket of his wife and all their three children traveling from the UK to Ghana for a DNA test to be conducted. The court demanded that the children must be protected from the stigma of the ongoing court process for which reason it was suggested Asamoah Gyan booked a business or 1st class ticket for them and their mother as well as prepare an accommodation for them in Accra. Asamoah Gyan, however, told the court he is broke and cannot afford a business or 1st class ticket because he has not been paid for some months. This is after he told the court in August that he can only afford Ghc3000 a month for the upkeep of the 3 children and the wife who are based in the UK. A source close to the wife...

Ghanaweb.com can exclusively confirm that the Ayew brothers, Andre and Jordan Ayew have been handed invitations for Ghana’s 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia on November 18, 2018. Even though the official squad will be released next week, our sources say Black Stars coach, Kwasi Appiah, has finally decided to invite the duo after a peaceful and successful phone conversation with the players sometime last month. This will be the first time in over a year that the Ayew bothers will be returning to the senior National Team. Jordan and Andre have in recent weeks been left out of the Black Stars despite their sterling performances for their club sides fueling the perception that the coach was unhappy with the players because their performances merited a call-up. The coach had insisted that there was no bad blood between him and the players, adding that his decision to leave out some big-name players in previous call-ups was purely tactical. Coach Kwasi Appiah has r...

Ronaldo accused of raping American woman

Kathryn Mayorga, 34, claims the Portuguese football player raped her in a Las Vegas hotel room, according to German media outlet Der Spiegel. The magazine says Ronaldo paid her $375,000 for her silence. The five-time World Player of the Year denies the allegations, insisting the sex was consensual. Mayorga’s lawyer is now questioning the validity of an out-of-court settlement agreed in Nevada, in which Ronaldo reportedly paid $375,000 (€323,000) for her silence. Der Spiegel claims the lawyer’s case is based on a document containing Ronaldo’s account of what happened on June 12, 2009. In it, the 33-year-old is quoted as saying “she said ‘no’ and ‘stop’ several times.” According to news agency Reuters, Ronaldo’s lawyer Christian Schertz said in a statement the report was “an inadmissible reporting of suspicions in the area of privacy”, and that he would seek legal redress for his client from the magazine. Koscielny out for six months, says Wenger

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has ruptured his Achilles and will not play again “before December”, according to departing Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. The France international sustained the injury in the early stages of their Europa League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano and his country’s football federation confirmed on Friday he would miss the World Cup. And Wenger fears the 32-year-old will miss the first three months of next season as well. Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Leicester City, he told a news conference: “He is of course devastated because of course he has surgery, that means six months out. You will not see him again before December certainly.” Asked if Koscielny was struggling to cope with the enormity of missing the World Cup, due to be his final international tournament after already announcing he was going to retire from Les Bleus duty following Russia 2018, Wenger added: “We always try to be positive, you know, ...

Wenger receives ‘more offers than expected’ for new job

Arsene Wenger has already received “more offers than expected” for his next role as he prepares toleaveArsenal at the end of the season. Wenger confirmed last month that his 22-year association with the Gunners will end when the campaign concludes, despite still having a year left on his contract. The Frenchman’s decision to leave stems from fan tension rather than his own physical or mental condition, and he has not been shy about his desire to remain in football management after leaving Arsenal. Wenger has been tentatively linked with the Paris Saint-Germain and France jobs since making his announcement and, although he would not reveal who has been in touch with him, he did claim offers aplenty have arrived. When asked in his Tuesday news conference if he had received offers, Wenger told reporters: “Yes, quite more than I expected. “At the moment I focus on doing my job well. I don’t analyse anything [relating to his next job], I want to work well until the end of my contract. ...

Nothing is impossible for Portugal because of Ronaldo – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho believes Portugal should not be discounted as potential World Cup challengers because the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo ensures “nothing is impossible”. Ronaldo was a key figure and captain as Portugal won Euro 2016, a victory which in itself was a shock given their perceived lack of star quality aside from the Real Madrid forward. The European champions head into the World Cup ranked fourth in FIFA’s rankings, though few consider them to be among the favourites, with Germany, Spain, France and Brazilthe most widely fancied. But Manchester United’s Portuguese coach thinks both his country – who face Spain, Iran and Morocco in the group stage – and Argentina should be considered as in with a chance, purely because they have Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. “Portugal has an interesting squad,” Mourinho told ESPN. “Without Cristiano, it would be impossible, but with him nothing is impossible. “I believe that the Argentinian national team without Lionel Messi wouldn’t be a cont...
