Workers at State’s House of Assembly in Nigeria were in shock after a dead owl was found in the speaker of parliament’s seat. There have been speculation that some individual or group of individuals are plotting to eliminate the speaker, Rt. Hon. Barrister Onofiok Luke. The speculation was fuelled by alleged discovery of an owl in the speaker’s seat this morning. According to reports, the owl which is normally associated with witchcraft was found when staff of the assembly started making their way into the house. Photos of the weird bird being held by a man believed to be one of the staff of the House of Assembly has been circulating online. The question most residents have been asking is how the owl made its way into the chamber and perched on no other seat than that of the speaker. A prophet who gave his name as Pentecost Ewa Usang has been arrested in Calabar Municipal in Cross River State for defiling an 8-year-old girl. The Prophet said he is in charge of Christ Glorious Assembly in Calabar, Cross River State capital. He told DAILY POST at the Police Headquarters that it was temptation that lured him into the act. A 94-year-old man from Ossen in Baringo North got baptized with 5000 liters of boiled water in Kenya The rare baptism took place at the Ossen AIC church and was presided over by  Rev Elijah Katya.   According to the Rev, they were forced to boil the water for baptism due to cold weather and the age of the frail old man. He said it took them two hours to boil the more than 5000 liters of water using firewood and also electric heaters.   Before the baptism took place, they waited for the water to get warm before the man named  William ‘Dr. Kahawa’ Chesang  got baptized as it has always been a childhood dream.   Speaking after the Baptism, his daughter  Lilian Ruto  said:”Even the cold weather didn’t deter him from getting into the water. Man dies after his brother killed a lizard in the middle of the night A Nigerian pastor, Rabbai Ephraim Ononye has taken to Facebook where he shared a story of how a man’s brother died after he killed a lizard in the middle of the night. A woman Identified as Mrs. Delight has ululated after her brother-in-law, Mr. Michael reportedly defiled her 11-year-old daughter. According to Chritsianah Fate Foundation who rescued the little girl and facilitated the arrest of the man, the little girl was given out by her mom to her brother-in-law who promised to send her school. A gallant Soldier has been beaten to death over stolen iron rods meant for the construction of Ahoada, Odiemerenyi, Odieke and Ihugbogo road in Ahoada East Local Government Area (Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality) of Rivers State. A 35-year-old lady identified as Kate Otu burnt to death in an early morning fire at Oghara Delta State. The incident occurred this Tuesday morning, May 1. The deceased said to be a black market vendor, reportedly left a candle close to a gallon of fuel. According to reports, the fire was so severe that nothing could be saved from the entire building. Fire fighters were said to have arrived very late after the damage has been done.

An 11-year-old girl has been reunited with her family after suffering domestic abuse from her guardian in Asaba, Delta state, Nigeria. The girl was rescued after a well-meaning Nigerian saw bruises all over her body and raised alarm. She was seen last Friday with injuries on her head and all over her body. She also looked malnourished and the good Samaritan was moved to reach out to her. When questioned, she broke down in tears and revealed that she lives with her aunt who beats and starves her. Police through the Flying Squad Unit have arrested a 19-year-old girl, Peace Ansimiire, daughter of Bishop Fred Muhwezi of West Ankole Diocese, Uganda, for faking her own kidnap. In a statement, police says Ansimire, in connivance with her 22-year-old boyfriend, Julius Atwebembire allegedly faked her kidnap so as to defraud her parents of Shs 3.5 million. They reportedly intended to use the ‘ransom money’ to start a craft shoes business in Kenya and later get married when they have amassed enough funds from their business. Police using a tracking system and bait money of Shs 750,000, were able to trace Ansimiire’s whereabouts. She was found living freely with her boyfriend in Kasubi, Rubaga Division in Kampala. According to police, the suspects were only found with Shs 250,000 of the Shs 750,000 which had been sent as a deposit for the ransom money. A Math teacher who taught gifted middle school students in Brooklyn was arrested on Wednesday and charged with sexually abusing a boy at the Brooklyn middle school where he worked.   Andre Braddy, 34, was arrested at Lenox Academy – a magnet school for talented middle schoolers – in Canarsie, Brooklyn. It is alleged that the Math teacher had sex with a 15-year-old boy inside the school’s bathroom. This went on for at least a month. He allegedly had sex with the teen three times and sent him lewd pictures.   The boy reportedly told one of his parents about the encounters with the teacher, and the police were called, leading to Braddy’s arrest last Wednesday evening.
