570 dams to be constructed 2018 – Bawumia A total of five hundred and seventy (570) dams are to be constructed in the three northern regions this year as part of the NPP Government’s manifesto pledge to facilitate community-owned and managed small-scale irrigation facilities across the country, popularly known as “One Village One Dam.” Feasibility studies and consultative forum have taken place, with work on the first of these dams set to begin in a couple of weeks, ahead of the rainy season. The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, made the disclosure at the annual “Paarigbielle” festival of the chiefs and people of the Tumu Traditional Area in the Upper West Region, on Saturday March 17, 2018. Four die in fatal accidents on Accra-Kumasi Highway

Four die in fatal accidents on Accra-Kumasi Highway Four persons have been confirmed dead in two separate fatal accidents at the Akyem Asafo stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway in the Eastern region. The two vehicles, a Chrysler private car with registration number GE 9302-14 and a Daf cargo Truck with registration number AS 2281-17 all ran into a Man Diesel trailer truck with registration number GC 2790-09 parked on a pavement off the highway. The bodies of the four deceased persons have been deposited at the morgue. Confirming the accidents to Kasapa News, the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern regional Police Command, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh explained that, the first incident occurred at about 7:30pm Sunday, March 18, 2018. According to him, Mr Rexford Manu, 58, now deceased who was driving the Chrysler Saloon private car travelling from Ntotroso towards Accra ran into the parked Man Diesel Trailer Truck.
