Fireman killed by unknown persons at Damongo

A 35-year-old personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has been killed by unknown assailants at Bruto, a farming community near Damongo in the West Gonja District in the Northern Region. Identified as Cosmos Mahama Elliasu, from the fire department at Sawla, his body was discovered in farm at Bruto with multiple gunshot wounds on the chest and chin. His family members told the police that he went to Damongo on a visit but failed to return home in the evening. When a search party was dispatched to the bush, they found him dead near his farm with the multiple gunshots wounds. 22 Die in separate accidents in Northern Region

A total of twenty-two people have reported dead from two separate accidents in the Northern Region over the weekend. In the first accident which occurred at Savelugu on the Tamale-Bolgatanga highway, two people died on the spot on Saturday morning. The second accident which occurred at Yapei-Yipala on the Tamale-Buipe highway claimed 16 lives on the spot early Sunday morning. It was later reported  early Monday morning that two persons have also passed on at the Tamale Teaching Hospital  totalling 22. According to informations gathered by starmediaghana.com,the drivers of the two accident vehicles were among those who died on the spot. About 70 others got injured in the two separate accidents. The Yapei-Yipala accident involved a Neoplan bus with registration number GW 2669 T, which carried 70passengers.
