63 years man arrested for selling his grandchild
A 63-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly selling his nine-year-old grandchild for GH¢100,000 at Osu in Accra. The man, Medaho Agbodzi, claimed he did not have money to take care of the little girl, as he was responsible for 10 more children, including his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, said the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the CID gathered intelligence that a man was offering his nine-year-old granddaughter for sale on February 22, 2018. Immediately, she said officers from the unit mounted surveillance on Agbodzi, while he was contacted by a man who had expressed interest in the sale of the girl.
