A selfless leader’s desire is for his follower’s life and advantages to improve. For this reason, National Directors of the Ghana National Council of Private schools ( Gnacops ) have always interacted with the education ministry, requesting for a change for the better, in the private sector of education. Series of meetings have been held to formulate the best private educational framework that would emphasize on standards, equity and promote educational development in private schools . In line with this, the directorate of pre-tertiary education in Ghana has been very instrumental in preparing a level ground for achieving the everlasting desire of private schools’ demands. Education: 9-Unit teachers bungalow commission at Oborpah East in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality

Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality this afternoon commissioned a newly completed 9-Unit teachers bungalow at Oborpah East to help improve the standard of living of the teachers in that community. The commissioning ceremony at the middle belt was witnessed by the elders of the Oborpah East community, Officers from the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal education Directorate, Officers from YOWE and the general public as they gathered for the short ceremony. That about 4:00 AM in the wee hours on Friday, a fully armed officers of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) numbering about sixty (60) were supervised to invade Universal Hostel, one of the University’s accommodation facilities without recourse to management of the University. PRIVATE SCHOOLS ARE NOT IN COMPETITION WITH THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS- PRE-TERTIARY DIRECTOR ADMITS.

It hasn’t been too long since the minister of education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, in a meeting with the Ghana National Council of Private schools stated that the private sector of education is explicitly in competition with the public sector. The perception is very different on the side of the director of pre-tertiary education- Madam Catherine Agyapomaa Appiah-Pinkrah. GES sacks 11 staff for sexual misconduct, stealing

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed eleven of its staff for breaching the professional code of conduct of the Service. Nine were dismissed for sex-related misconduct, while three had their contracts terminated for stealing. In a release issued Thursday by the Head of Public of Relations of the GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, “The decision was taken after they went through the due process at all levels from the school through the GES Council.” The GES says it is hopeful the sanctions will serve as a deterrent to others who have an intention of breaching the professional code of conduct. The Service has descended heavily on its staff over the last couple of years following reports that heads or teachers at either private or public schools have been engaging in one form of sexual act against their students. The headmaster in the infamous kitchen stool sex tape has had his appointment terminated by the Ghana Education Service (GES), GhanaNewsPage.Com can report. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for the area broke grounds for the construction of a modern community Library as part of the social cooperate responsibility of 9BS, a corporate entity in Ghana. Eastern Regional is benefitting 6 of such facilities and the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality is fortunate to be having one of this remarkable edifice to help improve the educational standards in the area. The community library is sited somewhere in the walls of Makrosec but upon completion, there will be an open big gate for the community to have easy access as well as the students of Makrosec. With rampant rate of teenage pregnancy and poor menstrual practices in rural communities, the Organisation has embarked on rural sexual health education outreaches to educate teens on the need to abstain from pre-marital sex, providing in depth knowledge on proper hygienic measures during menstruation and also distributing free menstrual pads to students to solve poverty menstruation. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality today broke grounds for the construction of a 2-Unit modern classroom block with ancillary facilities for the KG of Oborpah Djikiti M/A School who had been studying in a dilapidated church building over the years. Free SHS: About 196,000 gold track students start classes today

First year students under the Double Track Free Senior High School (Free SHS)system, who were placed on the Gold Track, will start classes today. The about 196,000 first year students expected to enroll are made up both boarding and day students. Objectives of the double-track system The objectives of the double-track system are to create room to accommodate increase in enrollment, reduce class size, increase contact hours, and increase the number of holidays. 2 Semesters in SHS 1 class The new programme creates a calendar of two semesters in a year for the SHS 1 class, containing 81 days per each semester and 41 days of vacation for a sandwich class. Professor Obiri Danso and Dr Evans-Anfom, Vice-Chancellor and second Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) respectively, have resigned. The two dropped their resignation letters few minutes after ordering the University to shutdown indefinitely. The resignation of the Vice-Chancellors is as result of their inability to calm students during a violent demonstration. In a 14-page resignation letter dropped at the school’s administration, the Chancellors apologised to Ghanaians for what happened and pleaded with the Controller and Accountant General Department to pay them their salaries at the end of the month. Double Track: GES to use phone calls to monitor students

The Ghana Education Service says it will adopt innovative means to monitor the performance of students who will be home while their colleagues are in school. Public Relations Officer, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, says the Service is also considering placing phone calls to the students to find out how they are coping and provide assistance where necessary. This would, however, happen after the candidates have successfully gone through the admission process and have been provided with some academic materials, Ms. Twum Ampofo told Super Morning Show host, Daniel Dadzie, Thursday.
