Chiefs and Elders plead for District Capital. About 29 chiefs and elders from Ahafo Ano South East in the Ashanti region have appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to use his good office to make Sabronum the capital of the new district. At a well-attended press conference, the spokesperson for the chiefs, Nana Gyaw, who is the Gyaasehene of Sabronum, said , if their plea is duly considered and Sabronum is designated the capital of Ahafo South East District will facilitate rapid development in the area. This month, the New York Times reported that US President Donald Trump consumes a “dozen Diet Cokes” daily – often delivered by “household staff he summons via a button.”Who knows? Maybe overdosing on all-powerful US corporate brands will help the president “Make America Great Again”. In the meantime, a Washington Post article has taken Trump’s Diet Coke habit and run with it, citing a recent study according to which “people who drank diet soda daily were three times more likely to develop stroke and dementia than those who consumed it weekly or less.”Also mentioned in the article is the possibility of weight gain owing to “artificial sweeteners [that] can confuse the brain and the body”. Suggestions of a correlation between soda consumption and deleterious health effects, including diabetes and heart disease, are, of course, nothing new – although Coca-Cola has in the past sought to distract public attention from the bad news by funding more industry-favourable narratives....

Earthquake has shaken southern Mexico. There has’t be any  reports of damage report yet. Monday’s temblor was centered near the Pacific coast resort city of Acapulco, where the shaking was felt strongly and many people left their homes. Civil defense chief Sabas de la Rosa Camacho said some shopping malls were evacuated but no damage had been reported. The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the quake had a magnitude of 4.7 and its epicenter was 26 miles (42 kilometers) north-northeast of Acapulco. It also triggered the seismic alarm system in Mexico City, where nerves are still raw from a Sept. 19 quake that killed 369 people including 228 in the capital.
