A political science lecturer has warned the National Democratic Congress will jeopardise its chances of winning the 2020 elections should it elect former president John Mahama as its flagbearer. In the analysis of Dr. Osei Bonsu of the Methodist University, nothing has changed from the events and factors that led to the “miserable” defeat of Mahama in the 2016 presidential election for him to make a comeback. Even though Mahama has since losing the election remained tight-lipped over calls by some party members for him to declare to once again run for the party’s flagbearership, he on Saturday responded favourably to the calls.“To you the teeming supporters and sympathizers calling and requesting me to declare my intentions for the future, I wish to assure you today, that as a servant-leader, I have listened to your calls and reflected. “I will not disappoint you even as we await the publication of the party’s guidelines for selecting a new leader,” he indirectly declared to contest...

NPP Has Failed Ghanaians – NDC’s YoungProfessionals

The Young Professionals (YP), a pro-National Democratic Congress (NDC) group, has pointed out the failures in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. At a press conference in Accra, Wednesday to rate the Akufo-Addo administration, the group accused government of going contrary to its promise of providing jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in the country. According to the Young Professionals, instead of creating employment, the NPP rather uprooted workers from their position, whom they believed were in a way associated to the NDC and replaced them with their party loyalists. Thenticked the act as ‘creating employment’. The group described the aforementioned acts as a ‘replacement’ instead of the job creation agenda the NPP promised Ghanaians during the 2016 campaign. They cited the rise of hooligans after the 2016 election by the NPP Invincible Forces, who reportedly took over toll booths and assaulted officers of the National Health Insurance Scheme, “sacked them from the offi...

“You did not heed to Mahama’s advice and Voted For Akufo-Addo” – Anita Desoso To Angry Nurses

National Vice Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita Desoso has blamed the current unemployment status of nurses and health professionals on their hasty decision to vote the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into power. President Akufo-Addo, as part of his 2016 campaign message, assured nurses across the country of the full restoration of their allowances if he is voted into power. According to him, the training of more healthcare and education professionals was of the utmost importance, hence the need to restore the allowances. The health professionals who bought into the campaign message now seem to have their hopes dashed as they continue in the fight against delayed financial clearance for employment. However, Madam Desoso maintained that the agitated health professionals should have given it a thorough thought before voting for the NPP while claiming the NDC had good intentions for them. She explained that in a bid to find a way to solve the issue of Doctors goi...

I must say if you look at what this government has done so far in the one year three months, if that is what they call competence, I call it super incompetence, and, so, the government should be up and doing.“They are changing all the rules of the game. When we were in government, they said: ‘The size of government was too high, you must reduce the size of government’. Now that they have power, they tell you you don’t deserve to eat anymore and have starved you of your livelihood. All you need to do is to vote them out of office in 2020, and I promise you that you will go back to work.
