A 35-year-old personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has been killed by unknown assailants at Bruto, a farming community near Damongo in the West Gonja District in the Northern Region. Identified as Cosmos Mahama Elliasu, from the fire department at Sawla, his body was discovered in farm at Bruto with multiple gunshot wounds on the chest and chin. His family members told the police that he went to Damongo on a visit but failed to return home in the evening. When a search party was dispatched to the bush, they found him dead near his farm with the multiple gunshots wounds.
