I AM A BROKE MAN; I’VE NOT BEEN PAID FOR MANY MONTHS – ASAMOAH GYAN ‘CRIES’ IN COURT

The skipper of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has shocked the Accra Family Court hearing the case of marriage annulment between him and Gifty Gyan that he is walking around a “broke man” and has not been paid for some months now. The court had ordered Asamoah Gyan to ensure he paid for the air ticket of his wife and all their three children traveling from the UK to Ghana for a DNA test to be conducted. The court demanded that the children must be protected from the stigma of the ongoing court process for which reason it was suggested Asamoah Gyan booked a business or 1st class ticket for them and their mother as well as prepare an accommodation for them in Accra. Asamoah Gyan, however, told the court he is broke and cannot afford a business or 1st class ticket because he has not been paid for some months. This is after he told the court in August that he can only afford Ghc3000 a month for the upkeep of the 3 children and the wife who are based in the UK. A source close to the wife...

Breaking: KOJO BONSU WITHDRAWS FROM NDC FLAGBEARERSHIP

On deadline day for the picking of forms for the flagbearership race of the opposition National Democratic Congress, one aspirant Kojo Bonsu has opted out. In a statement, Mr Bonsu said the decision to opt out of the race is as a result of “considerable deliberation and reflection.” He had been one of eight candidates who petitioned the Council of Elders of the party about the high cost of nomination and filing fees. Their petition was considered and the nomination and filing fees of ¢420,000 was slashed by a ¢100,000. But that appears not to have empowered Mr Bonsu to go ahead to pick a form despite declaring his intentions to contest. In his statement announcing his decision not to contest Mr Bonsu said: “I would like to thank the Council of Elders for their prompt response to our petition regarding the flagbearership election.” It is with deep regret that after considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided to end my campaign for the flagbearership of the NDC today....
