KWAHU AFRAM PLAINS CATTLE FARMERS ASSOCIATION MEETS PRESS ON INDISCRIMINATE SHOOTINGS AND KILLING OF THEIR CATTLE.

The Cattle Farmers Association in the Kwahu Republic of the Eastern Region have organized a press conference in respect of the recent shooting and killing of their cattle by the soldiers in the country. The meeting was held at Ekye Amamfrom in the Khawu Afram Plains South on Thursday.

The spokes person and the organizer for the association, Mr. Adika Kwame briefing the press made it clear that cattle owners were made to register their cows about four months ago, intended to find solutions to this long term problem but here lies the case, instead of government bringing soldiers to sack the Fulani herdsmen,and continue with the agenda of registering the cattle, they are rather sacking, killing and damaging the properties of Ghanaian citizens thereby denying them of their rights to rear animals as well. “Animal rearing contribute a major role in farming activities in our country and you are denying us in our own country “,he added.

The Chairman of the association,Torgbui Dzade Seyome ll also questioned how soldiers got to Kwahu Republic without the integrity and awareness of the indegient and their operations as such. He described this as a pity and lack of vision on the part of N. P. P government.

According to him Ghanaians will remain in poor since the leaders lack ideas in steering the agricultural production. He described the idea of registering the cattle and the cattle owners by the Kwahu Ranching Project, aimed to move them to a particular place as the best solution in putting up good measures to ensure proper rearing but did not yield any positive impact on farmers since government intervened with different agenda.

He further said that the N. P. P government has neglected the Ghanaians and rather appreciating the activities of the foreigners.They therefore chided on government to explain to them thoroughly if indeed that is the solution to bring to an end the Fulani menace in the country.

They hinted that they will face the soldiers boot for boot should government continue to allow the security personnel to continue with this unacceptable behavior.

According to their statistics, thousand(1000) cattle are currently killed and destroyed so far at their area, others are lost or ran away without knowing their whereabout, rendering them losing their properties.

They expressed worried on the fact that the killed cattle are also taken away by the soldiers during operation to unknown destinations.
