Asiedu Nketia under fire over ‘Gay’ comment
Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin has told NDC General Secretary Asiedu Nketia to learn that Ghanaians cannot be deceived by the politics of lies, deceit and acrimonious propaganda.
This follows the immature comments made by Asiedu Nketia at an elementally shambolic “Unity Walk” event in Kumasi that President Akufo-Addo has legalized same sex marriage in Ghana.
Contained in a timely statement issued from the Presidency, Director of Communications Eugene Arhin told Asiedu Nketia to wean himself of the childish perception that Ghanaians are ignorant and would swallow whatever falsehood he spews.
“We will neither ask for an apology nor a retraction from the NDC General Secretary, who obviously, is still stuck in the age of politics of lies, deceit and propaganda, which was rejected decisively by discerning Ghanaians in the 2016 general elections.” The statement said.
Eugene Arhin also stated that Asiedu Nketia’s comments were nothing but a baseless and vile fabrication, by no less of a person than the General Secretary of the leading opposition party in Ghana.
“For the avoidance of doubt, President Akufo-Addo, has never stated anywhere that, under his presidency, men will marry men and women will marry women” He indicated emphatically.
Having gone unscathed on a number of careless, immature, and ill-informed statements like these, Asiedu Nketia will obviously have a lot of regrets to share on this one as immediately the Eugene Arhin statement came out, Ghanaians on social and mainstream media have not hesitated to lash out angrily on Asiedu Nketia with unprintable insults.
Assuredly, Eugene Arhin indicated in the statement that, President Akufo-Addo remains focused on delivering on his mandate and improving on the quality of lives of the Ghanaian people.
“It will NOT be under his Presidency, that same-sex marriage will be legalized in Ghana.” He underscored.
Concluding, he appealed to Ghanaians to, once again, ignore the falsehoods of the NDC, and urged Mr. Asiedu Nketia to “concentrate his energies on uniting his divided and discredited party”.
