Founder,Director and philanthropist of Heart for Children Foundation a nongovernmental organization, Mr. Solomon Boateng has bemoaned stress and frustration meted out to foreign donors in their quest to assist deprived communities in the country.

The annoyance by some Ghana embassies in other countries in securing visas to embark on projects and donations in Ghana, he believes is a contributing factor to some philanthropists reluctance in extending support to Ghana.

Frustration At Embassies

Addressing the media at Aduonya a farming community at Nsoatre in the Brong Ahafo Region during the commissioning of a six unit classroom block for the A M.E, Zion basic school, the benevolent could not fathom why some government officials are reluctant in helping various NGO’s seeking assistant for the country by helping fast track documents to various embassies.

‘’I personally went to the Netherlands Embassy in Ghana with my wife to seek clearance of visas for my foreign partners on their mission to construct this structure, but was given a hectic time and excuses which is not reasonable whiles we need help as a country’’ he fumed.

High Import Duties

Mr. Boateng disclosed that he has about ten containers of medical equipment to support poor health care facilities in the rural areas ready to be delivered but because of high the import duties the medical equipment are stacked in the Netherlands.

According to him, he is afraid his counterparts from Kenya may seize the opportunity to take them to his people in Kenya.

Interacting with Ark fm’s Kwasi Kyei Baffour he said the foundation’s first visit to the area was in the year 2006. He said during the visit he realized there is a lot of school going age children in the area without any educational facility and potable water to drink.

The patent father of about 25 children revealed the presence of the Netherlands in the country every year injects not less than GHC400, 000 into the Ghanaian economy which he believes if a governmental support is given, various NGO’s most especially Heart for Children Foundation will help government provide proper health care to its citizenry in the rural areas.

Headmasters Excitement

Overjoyed by the gestures of the NGO, Mr. Amankwa Benet, Head teacher of A.M.E Zion School also noted the numerous interventions and support by Heart for Children Foundation in establishing of structures for the commencement of the school is overwhelming calling for more hands to come on board.

‘’Notwithstanding my teaching staff commitment to helping these children, there are many challenges we are confronted with, affecting our delivery’’ he said.

Lack of Facilities For Deprived Community School

Mr. Amankwa Benet told news men, lack of teacher’s quarters in the area makes it difficult for teachers to have ample contact hours with the pupils they have to travel 35km from Nsoatre to the village.

He has since called for a staff quarters to house teachers to enhance monitoring of their activities and have enough classes hours to improve education in the area.

‘’We also lack basic teaching and learning materials including text and exercise books which are vital to education’’ the head teacher stated.
