RE – SUHUM ROADS TO BE REHABILITATED – MCE MEETS STAKEHOLDERS

The 21st February, this year meeting at the Municipal Assembly’s conference room between the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Margaret Darko Darkwah and the Regional Urban Roads Engineers and the Contractor tasked to black the Suhum roads network was not just to sip tea but meant to fulfilling promise to the good people of Ghana and for that matter Suhum to be precise.

According Mr.Samuel Baah(Gosh) the media Aide to the MCE, the outcome of the emergency meeting has seen the light of the day as construction works has commenced on the five kilometers (5km) first phase out of the total ten kilometers extended to the Suhum Municipality by the Central Government under the able leadership of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo.

For sometime now, the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Margaret Darko Darkwah has come under pressure with regards to the poor states of the Suhum township road which she accepts responsibility to ensure that her people have their fair share of the national cake. The state of the roads has given sleepless nights for the Hon MCE. “l can’t sleep my people”, the Hon MCE once told some assembly members at her office. She has indeed also given others sleepless nights which of course Suhum has benefited from the few road projects awarded to some Mmunicipal and district assemblies throughout the country.

Pockets of people were found elating and embracing the all important exercise when they saw men at work. “God bless Nana and Magi”, was the song sung by those found around. Ghana is indeed working again, Suhum is also working again.

The first five kilometers include Suhum presec road (250m), fire service road (300m), event park to station road (300m), Anglican street (800m), Roman park road (500m), police station road (200m), Osikani ankobea road (400m), zafito road (800m), Municipal assembly road (250m) and old chocho road (1300m).

The additional scope of work to be considered in phase two are: Nmgbertsonya road (1200m), Jehovah rapher road (1200m), Nana kokora 1street (500m), noma Martey Anoma loop (950m), cathecist Asare road (500m), auntie Mary road (800m), vema city road (250m) and Odei Kofi lane (1100m).

The ten kilometer contract is funded by the Ghana Road Fund awarded to Messrs Otuboat Limited and the contractor, Mr Samuel Otu Lartey.

In an exclusive interview with the Hon mce, she assured the people of Suhum to have faith in the President His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo for he is bent on delivering on his promise. “It’s just a matter of patience and all shall see a new Ghana and a new suhum under the new patriotic party government”. The Hon MCE assured. She admired the long patience the good people have engulfed within the period and entreated them to hold their peace for a united Municipality for united we stand and it is with unity we can build Suhum.

The contractor Mr Samuel Otu Lartey had earlier assured the Hon MCE of doing a good job that would merit another contract. He had also expressed his sincere gratitude for the cooperation he and his team have and are receiving from the Assembly. “If things continue this way, we shall deliver in due time”. Mr Otu Lartey assured.
