Fella Makafui’s wine shop shut down by angry boyfriend

The wine shop of popular Yolo actress, Fela Makafui, has been shut down by her alleged boyfriend, a source close to the actress has said. According to multiple sources, the Accra-based boyfriend of the actress is upset over her recent lifestyle and lack of attention for their relationship. The actress is reported to have suddenly withdrawn attention for the boyfriend, whom she has dated for some five years now, even though he rented her current three-bedroom apartment for her. She no longer respects the guy. On multiple occasions, she has called for an end to the relationship but anytime the boy tries to move on, her parents will intervene and calm him down. “This is the fourth apartment the same guy has rented for her. Nurse tortures 10-year-old girl with hot iron

The police in Lagos have arrested one Mrs. Yetunde Bello for allegedly torturing her 10-year-old housemaid, Paulina, with a hot iron. It was learnt that Bello, who is a nurse, inflicted an injury on Paulina’s lap with the iron as punishment for damaging the knob of a tap on the premises of her residence located on Odutan Street, Araromi, in the Iyana Ipaja area of the state. Saturday PUNCH learnt that Bello had been subjecting the girl to assaults since January 2018 when she was brought from Benue State, where her parents live. The suspect reportedly relocated Paulina to Lagos with a promise that she would enrol her in a school, which she never did. Our correspondent learnt that the abuse of the girl reached its height sometime in May 2018 when the little girl damaged the knob while she was fetching water for the woman, who had gone to work that day. 19-yr-old student suffocates her newborn baby to death

A 19-year-old mother identified as Munirat Bagana, an indigene of Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, has been arrested by the police in Sokoto for allegedly suffocated her newborn baby boy. The accused a student of Sokoto State School of Health Technology, Gwadabawa, was arrested on Monday after dumping the dead baby in a dustbin. Upon interrogation, Munirat denied killing the baby, with claims she had a stillbirth and the dead baby was premature. The Sokoto State police command PPRO, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, who paraded the suspect before newsmen, said she would soon be charged after investigation is concluded.

A 29-year-old handcart pusher, identified as Idris Yusuf, has been nabbed by the long arms of the law after Operatives of Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC apprehended him yesterday for rather shocking reasons. Idris Yusuf was allegedly arrested for unsanitary and illegal disposal of human faeces under the bridge at Daleko area of Mushin, Lagos State. According to LAGESC, Yusuf was caught with human faeces tied in 27 bags. In lieu of the development, the house where the waste originated from has since been sealed off while investigations would be carried out.

Crocodile kills pastor during lake baptism A crocodile has killed a Protestant pastor who was baptising followers near a lake in southern Ethiopia. Docho Eshete was conducting the ceremony for about 80 people on Sunday morning at Lake Abaya in Arba Minch town’s Merkeb Tabya district.   Residents and police told BBC Amharic that a crocodile leapt from the water during the baptism and attacked him. Pastor Docho died after being bitten on his legs, back and hands. “He baptised the first person and he passed on to another one. All of a sudden, a crocodile jumped out of the lake and grabbed the pastor,” local resident Ketema Kairo told the BBC. Despite huge efforts, fishermen and residents could not save pastor Docho, policeman Eiwnetu Kanko said. They used fishing nets to prevent the crocodile from taking the pastor’s body into the lake. The crocodile escaped.

Lady arrested for attacking her rival in public

A Nigerian lady has been arrested after she attacked her rival in public over alleged betrayal. Tina Ezekiel and Blessing Amadi got into a fist fight close to their homes at Jakande Estate bus stop, Ejigbo, Lagos. Tina was reportedly angry with Blessing over suspicion that she betrayed her. This led to a disagreement that soon turned violent.   During the fight on May 24, 2018, Tina hit Blessing with a stone and rained blows on her, leaving her with severe injuries. The police later got involved and Tina was arrested and charged to court for attacking Blessing and inflicting serious injury on her. Police said that the parties knew each other before they became enemies and rivals over what was described by the police as backstabbing by both parties.   Tina was arraigned at Ejigbo Magistrates court and she pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Mr. G. Police in Dallas, Texas say a woman has confessed to fatally shooting her husband “as he was beating the family cat” during an argument at their home. Mary Harrison, 47, was arrested after telling detectives that she shot Dexter Harrison, 49, during a domestic dispute on Saturday, police say in a statement. Neighbours say the cat recently went missing, and Mrs Harrison had posted flyers. It eventually returned. She has been charged with murder and booked into a Dallas County jail. The shooting took place around 06:45 local time, police say. Mr Harrison was transported to the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, where he was pronounced dead.

Man gets five strokes of cane for divorcing his wife – Court Ordered

A Sharia Court sitting at Magajin Gari in Kaduna yesterday ordered that Idris Sai’du be given five strokes of cane for violation of the Islamic Law on divorce.The judge, Mallam Dahiru Lawal also ordered the man to pay N5,000 to Hauwa Abdullah, his wife for abandoning her and wasting her time for so long. The judge, who was irked at the respondent’s pronouncement of “I divorce my wife three times,” said it was not in line with Islamic practice. He therefore ordered the respondent to be given five strokes of cane. The complainant, Hauwa, had earlier told the court that her husband chased her out of her matrimonial home since last year and had never checked on her ever since. “He asked me to leave his house since last year Ramadan, saying I should pack all my belongings and leave. It is almost a year now and he had never checked on me,” the complainant said.
