A German former nurse on Tuesday admitted murdering 100 patients, making him one of the country’s deadliest post-war serial killers. Niels Hoegel, 41, confessed to killing his patients — between the ages of 34 and 96 — at two hospitals in northern Germany between 2000 and 2005. On the first day of his trial at a court in Oldenburg, northwest Germany, Hoegel said the murder allegations against him were correct. Around 126 relatives of the victims are co-plaintiffs in the trial, which is expected to run until May next year, a court spokeswoman told CNN. Prosecutors said Hoegel should have been aware that the drugs he gave to patients at hospitals in Delmenhorst and Oldenburg could cause life-threatening cardiac problems. The Nkwanta Senior High School in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Volta Region has been closed down indefinitely following riots and destruction of school property worth millions of Ghana cedis by some students. The students were given a 4 pm ultimatum on Tuesday, 30 October 2018, to exit the school premises. The authorities have subsequently called for a PTA meeting on Wednesday, 31 October 2018. Meanwhile, police personnel have been stationed at the school as they commence investigations into the riots. About 30 students of the school have also been picked up by the police in relation to the riots and destruction of property. True Drivers Union have announced a 20 percent increment in transport fares with effect from Monday, 29th October, 2018. According to the group, their members can no longer bear the rising cost of fuel and its impact on the transport business hence the decision to pass it on to passengers. They lament the need for an increase in transport fares has been long overdue as fuel prices remain unstable for the past months. The body of a newborn baby was found in a well in the northern part of Nigeria and it is believed to have been dumped there by the mother Agyapaonline.net sighted at LindaIkejiblog.com. A large amount of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana was found at the Bethel Society Methodist Church in Koforidua yesterday. The substance, which was packed in a fertilizer sack, is believed to have been hidden in the church located at Anlo Town in the New Juaben Municipality by some dealers, ostensibly to sway the prying eyes of the police. Five Church members of Grace Living Hope Ministries have reportedly died after being made to drink ‘anointed’ rat poison given then by South African pastor, Light Monyeki. The pastor from Soshanguve tried to prove to his members that they were sub-human and couldn’t die from drinking the lethal dose of rat poison. After his members drank the poisonous liquid, all of them started to complain of stomach pains by the evening of the same day. 13 of them were admitted in hospitals for treatment while 5 of them died. The Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, Mr Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has proposed to the government to sanction a shoot-to-kill system to ward off illegal chainsaw operators from degrading the forests. He said such a decision could also help protect members of the joint military-police forestry task force from attacks, especially in the Sefwi Wiaso and the Juaboso areas in the Western Region.
